Berlin City Auto Group Awards 12 local Schools
Donation from Drive for Education Program
PORTLAND, ME – January 19, 2021 – Berlin City Auto Group is proud to announce its 2020 grant donation of $39,333 awarded on behalf of its “Drive for Education” (DFE) program. The program, in its 10th year, uses a portion of the proceeds from area car sales to fund grants awarded to neighboring schools.
This year, in addition to granting funds for things like school supplies, books and technology, Berlin City has partnered with ActivePure® to provide 18 Air Purification systems to schools that applied for funding, in an effort to help keep schools safe and open in 2021 and beyond. These air filtration systems are currently being used at all Berlin City Dealerships and use NASA Certified Technology to reduce airborne and surface contaminants.
The schools who submitted grant requests and will be receiving funding or ActivePure systems this year are:
- Waldo Skillin Elementary
- Memorial Middle School
- Great Falls Elementary
- Ocean Avenue Elementary
- Lincoln Middle School
- Gorham High School
- Deering High School
- Westbrook Regional Vocational Center
- King Middle School
- Lyseth School
- Augusta School Dept
- Presumpscot Elementary
In addition to the 12 Maine schools receiving grants, 7 schools in New Hampshire will receive $20,986 for 14 Air Filtration Units and 4 schools in Vermont will receive $5,700 in funding for various school needs.
This year’s combined donation of $66,019 brings the total amount donated through the Drive For Education program since its inception in June, 2011 to $707,316.
“In a year that has brought so many challenges, particularly in education, we are honored to be able to do our part to give back and help keep our students safe. We will miss seeing the smiling faces of the teachers and children that would normally attend our annual Drive for Education event. But while we are safely apart, we are grateful for how we can still come together to support education in our community.” said Yegor Malinovskii of Berlin City Auto Group.
About the Drive for Education Program
Berlin City Auto Group and its employees believe every child holds a key to the future. We believe in enriching the lives of children through education and foundational support. We believe in helping to pave their road. That is exactly why the truly special, forward-thinking charity program, Drive for Education, was created. To be considered as part of the program, a local school must submit an online application and personalized essay to Drive for Education that best describes how their school would utilize a donation. Berlin City Auto Group’s Brand Ambassadors, a group of employees that lead the dealerships’ community involvement, evaluate each online application and personalized essay and select the most suitable schools.
From each vehicle sold at its 7 locations throughout New England, Berlin City Auto Group gives a portion of the sale to the Drive for Education program.
